Major Development Projects
There are great deals of potentials for further developments in Shiraz Petrochemical Co. The tabulated list of projects here below highlights the major projects that are either in design stage or being negotiated with bidders.
1- Sodium Carbonate Expansion project
Soda-Ash is widely used in variety of industries including glass manufacturing as major consumer of our product. Recent increase in demand made the company to consider boosting production capacity. The project is defined to increase the production rate from current rate of 240 MTPD to 360MTPD. The engineering phase has been finished and procurement stage has started.
2- Second Refrigerated Ammonia Storage Tank
The existing ammonia storage facility commenced operation in 1984. Ever since it has not been inspected because the time needed to decommission exceeds the normal duration of turnarounds. For the purpose of operational flexibility as well as redundancy of storage facility during downtime of the existing tank, the second storage tank installation was initiated and is currently in detailed engineering phase.
3- Urea Plant Revamp
Utilizing the spare capacity of the existing equipments while debottlenecking the limiting capacity is the feasible way of profit boosting. This concept is used to increase production rate in the existing 1500MTPD urea plant. The project is being negotiated with the bidders at this stage.
4- Ammonia plant Revamp
In order to provide the urea plant feed demand increase after revamp, inevitable production increase of the existing 1200 MTPD is mandatory. This project is also under negotiation with the bidders.
5- Nitric Acid Reactor Replacement
Leaking problem at the median ring of the ammonia oxidation reactor has been experienced for many years, leading to unhealthy environment for people working in the plant. The project is in basic engineering phase.
